I know, I know. Some of you are saying, “What’s Smart Girl Politics?” Some of you might have arrived here because you were on SGP’s email list from back in the day. Or you may have arrived from our Facebook page. Or you may have stumbled across Fierce some other way.
However you got here, let me say welcome! I am Teri Christoph, writer and editor of Fierce and co-founder of the afore-mentioned Smart Girl Politics (SGP). SGP was started in 2008 to amplify the voices of conservative women and encourage activism among our community. We were actively involved in the founding of the Tea Party movement — Jenny Beth Martin and Amy Kremer were both SGP members — and spent many years training women to run for office, holding voter registration drives and maintaining an online presence so that conservative women didn’t feel alone. We all know that female-centric sites tend to skew to the left and aren’t exactly welcoming of diverse viewpoints.
Fast forward to 2020 and SGP, though somewhat diminished from our earlier years, has kept an active Facebook page (and a podcast!) to keep the welcome mat out for our ladies — and, of course, our beloved gents, too. We all needed a place this year to find like-minded Americans who share the dismay we feel watching our neighbors so nonchalantly surrendering their liberties.
And then there was the election.
While much is being made, rightly, about the election “irregularities” that seek to deny President Trump a second term, something very interesting caught my eye: a record number of conservative women won seats in Congress. And these ladies aren’t your run-of-the-mill politicians! They are fiercely pro-American, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment — the perfect antidote to AOC and her Fraud Squad pals.
The mainstream media has spent two years tripping over themselves to praise “The Squad” and their radical agenda, thus, it’s highly unlikely they’ll roll out the red carpet for the new class of badass GOP ladies. But I can! And SGP 2.0 — with a renewed focus on supporting conservative women — can.
And Fierce can.
Glad to see you back! I was a small part of SGP back in the day. Attended some meetings, etc.YES-let’s do this!!! (Saw you on Twitter; don’t do FB)
