New Parties, Space Lasers & Impeachment Hypocrisy
Also, the least popular girl on Capitol Hill.
Hello again, Fierce fam! I thought I’d start this week’s newsletter with a little bit of personal news. Today is my last day at my full-time job with The Daily Wire. I had the privilege of working there during the crazy 2020 election cycle and will miss being part of their growing media empire. They’re going to have a real impact on the culture with their foray into entertainment. And Candace Owens will be joining in the fun soon, so definitely keep an eye on that!
What will I be doing now, you ask? I’ll be focusing on getting my two children at home back on track — this distance learning nonsense has been a disaster and they need help. I’ll also be working on growing Fierce and, hopefully, helping each of you stay informed and motivated. We’re looking to move out of crazy, crazy Virginia soon — it’s become the California of the mid-Atlantic — and I’d be happy to keep you all updated on that, if you’re interested. Let me know. Tennessee and Texas are the two leading contenders for where we’ll relocate to, but hit me up at fierce@substack.com if your state is worth a look!
Okay, on with the newsletter.
It was another week of non-stop impeachment nonsense. The House delivered the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump into the glistening palms of Chuck Schumer and the Senate. Sadly, there are no Fierce Force members in the Senate, so we’ll have to trust on ladies like Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R.-TN) and stalwarts like Sen. Rand Paul (R.-KY) to put this sham to rest for once and for all.
Committee assignments were finalized this week. Here’s where the freshman GOP ladies landed:
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R.-CO): House Natural Resources Committee; House Budget Committee
Rep. Kat Cammack (R.-FL): House Agriculture Committee; House Homeland Security Committee — (NOTE: Rep. Cammack was the subject of this week’s Fierce Focus!)
Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R.-MN): House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on the Judiciary; House Committee on Rules
Rep. Nancy Mace (R.- SC): House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee; House Oversight and Reform Committee
Rep. Michelle Steel (R.-CA): House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI): House Armed Services Committee
Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R.-TX): House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R.-TN): House Committee on Education and Labor; House Committee on Homeland Security
Rep. Stephanie Bice (R.-OK): House Armed Services Committee
Rep. Mary Miller (R.-IL): House Committee on Agriculture
As you may have heard, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R.-GA) was given a seat on the House Education and Labor Committee. MTG has met with a lot of criticism since arriving in DC, often being called out for questionable statements and stances. This is a good write up; oh, and there’s also this. She’s not the question of the week, but I sure would love to hear your thoughts on Rep. Greene! Hit me up at fierce@substack.com.
A few other things to note before we get to last week’s Question of the Week (and this week’s new question for you!): former Trump White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced this week that she’ll be running for governor of Arkansas. You can find her campaign website here. Are you as excited as I am?
The always-awesome Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota introduced a bill this week to ban abortions on babies with Down Syndrome. She keeps saying she’s not interested in running for president, but we’ll keep asking her to!
Rep. Liz Cheney (R.-WY) is not exactly the most popular girl on Capitol Hill at the moment (at least among the GOP); it looks like her home state isn’t that thrilled with her, either. In a poll commissioned by a pro-Trump PAC, nearly 75% of GOP voters in Wyoming, and just over 60% of voters overall, expressed a negative opinion of Cheney. Quipped Donald Trump, Jr., on Twitter:
Liz Cheney’s favorables in WY are slightly worse than her fathers shooting skills... it’s time to get this RINO out of GOP leadership! Leadership is supposed to raise $, recruit new members, and lead. She has literally done none of those things!
Question of the Week
First, last week’s question: Would you support Donald Trump’s new party?
As it turns out, President Trump isn’t planning to start a new party to compete with the GOP, so the question was, in hindsight, kind of moot. (More on Trump’s plans here. And his new website is here.)
A slight majority of you favored supporting a new party — it was a squeaker! Even if a viable third party fails to emerge, your feedback illustrates the uphill battle for the GOP. Here are some of your comments:
“Rather than a third party, we need to primary out all the RINOs and reform the Republican Party into a true constitutional based party. And I would welcome Donald Trump to play a major part in such an initiative.”
“I hate the idea of a new political party, there are plenty already. But I must confess that I would certainly check out a party started by Pres. Trump, assuming it will be a party based in the principles of his MAGA movement, putting everyday Americans’ interests first, bringing back and keeping jobs, supporting economic growth, avoidance of useless foreign wars, etc.”
“The current GOP does not represent me or mine.”
“I sincerely hope Donald Trump will continue to BUILD and GROW the Republican party. 3rd party would be disastrous.”
Now … this week’s question.
Is there anyone in the GOP leadership — House or Senate — that you trust? If so, please name them.
Please send your responses to me at fierce@substack.com. Here’s hoping you have some answers for me!
Take Action - Vote Nay!
It looks like the farcical impeachment of former president Donald Trump will be tried in the Senate next month. Every GOP senator needs to hear from you RIGHT NOW. We’re sick of the witch hunt against President Trump and it needs to stop now!
