Screw "pandemic amnesty" - let's get retribution at the ballot box
Also, we're all preppers now.
Hello, everybody! Happy one week until Election Day. I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween and aren’t too hung over — from booze, sugar, whatever your indulgence of choice — this fine day. And for all you Christmas People, have fun putting up your trees. ;-)
Since we are getting down to the wire, I thought we could talk about some of this cycle’s great slate of Republican candidates (and their Dem challengers that deserve to be voted out of office).
Speaking of terrible Democrat candidates, the internet was abuzz yesterday about an article in The Atlantic in which the author opined:
We need to forgive one another for what we did and said when we were in the dark about COVID.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but screw that. Screw all of those who messed with our lives and our kids’ lives. Screw any elected official, policymaker or bureaucrat who felt emboldened to take away the rights of their fellow citizens, while often flaunting the fact that the rules didn’t apply to them.
Screw ‘em all.
We need to hit the ballot boxes hard next Tuesday and send a clear message that amnesty isn’t on the table — but retribution is. Vote!!
Happy days,
Teri (teri.christoph@gmail.com)
The candidates
My personal favorite is Ron DeSantis; he is the gold standard for how Republicans should govern. He sticks to his principles, no matter what, and trolls the libs to an incredibly satisfying degree. Does he have presidential ambitions? Almost definitely, but he’s putting that aside while he tends to Florida’s business and zooms toward reelection, while his opponent, Charlie Crist, looks on in bewilderment. Poor Charlie Crist — Ron DeSantis is living the life Crist never could; principles mean something.
RealClearPolitics aggregate poll has DeSantis +12.3 over Crist.
Kari Lake is an absolute rock star. She walked away from a successful career in TV journalism after seeing how devoted the media was to peddling misinformation. On the campaign trail for Arizona governor, she regularly shreds the media for their clear biases and turns their nonsense back on them. It’s a masterclass for all Republicans.
She’s also solid on the issues; she is for:
Securing our borders, vowing to finish Trump’s wall
Securing elections
Dealing with Arizona’s water shortage
Addressing the state’s housing shortage
RealClearPolitics aggregate poll has Lake +3.8 over her debate-shy Democrat opponent, Katie Hobbs
Tiffany Smiley is making waves in her bid to unseat Washington state’s looooooongtime liberal senator, Patty Murray (who’s become incredibly comfortable in the seat she’s held for THIRTY years). A nurse who married her high school sweetheart, Smiley was drawn to public service while fighting for her husband after he received catastrophic injuries while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq. The fight began with her successfully resisting the Army’s efforts to discharge her husband and ended with her running for office. Along the way, she has championed veterans rights, fought for reform at the Veterans Administration and inspired others to fight back against government interference in their lives.
You might be thinking that unseating a Dem in WA state is a pipe dream, but, hey, it’s 2022 and anything can happen. Here are the numbers:
RealClearPolitics aggregate poll has Murray +5 over Smiley. BUUUUUT, Trafalgar Group, the most accurate polling firm in recent election cycles, shows Murray only at +1. That’s insanely close for a deep blue state like Washington — and there’s still a week left.
Like Kari Lake, Tudor Dixon has a background in media, which keeps things fun on the campaign trail. Dixon is running for governor against Michigan’s lockdown queen, Gretchen Whitmer (remember when Trump used to call her Whitless?), and is doing amazingly well. Whitmer, of course, made a name for herself with her draconian lockdown rules (no planting flowers!) that applied only to the peasants, not to herself or her family. She’s propped up by teachers unions, of course, and even trotted out Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, to stump for her this past weekend. That either means Whitmer is on the ropes or that libs haven’t learned a thing from Glen Youngkin’s parent-focused win last year here in Virginia. Or both.
Top priorities for Dixon include:
Increasing jobs
Improving schools
Reducing crime
Building reliable roads and infrastructure
Ensuring affordable energy for all
RealClearPolitics aggregate poll has Whitmer +3.6 over Dixon, but the afore-mentioned Trafalgar Group has it as a dead heat.
Christine Drazan may not be getting the national attention of some of her fellow GOP candidates, but she’s running a heck of a race for governor of Oregon. Yes, Oregon. Much like Tiffany Smiley to the north in Washington, Drazan is making a surprisingly strong showing in a deep blue state that has suffered under years of mismanagement by Democrats. Drazan’s strong showing is undoubtedly due, in part, to the tyrannical COVID restrictions put in place by the current, lame duck governor, Kate Brown. Turns out, party affiliation doesn’t matter quite as much as parents rights and the ability to, you know, sit by your loved one’s bedside in the hospital.
Drazan worked in politics for years before winning a seat in the Oregon House of Representative back in 2018. Her key stances include:
Increasing funding for law enforcement
Addressing the issue of homelessness, which is rampant in cities like Portland
Opposing new taxes
Eliminating the cap-and-trade style programs that harm the timber industry
RealClearPolitics aggregate poll has Drazan +1.7 over her Democrat opponent, Tina Kotek.
Last, but certainly not least, is Kira Davis. Some of you might remember Kira as a co-host of the Smart Girl Politics podcast a few year’s back. She’s a writer, frequent Fox News guest, podcaster, wife and mother … and she’s super fed up with her local school board. Kira has taken her activism to a new level by running for District Trustee in Capistrano Unified School District’s Area 2. She wants to be a voice for parents in her area, something that is desperately needed across the country. Good luck, Kira!!

While perusing Facebook, I came across this article from Intellectual Takeout: “How to Prepare for a Recession.” According to the Dems, we’re not in a recession; according to me and my bills, we are most definitely in a recession.
Preparing for a recession, it turns out, looks a lot like prepping. It involves a lot of stockpiling.
Alton advises stockpiling necessities, not just foods like rice and canned goods, but items like toothpaste, soap, medicines, and vitamins.
The goal of this kind of stockpiling is to get ahead of inevitable price increases. By having an abundant supply of food, especially the staples, on hand, you can shop your own pantry instead of the grocery store. The higher upfront cost will save you in the end. And, on the plus side, you’ll be super prepared for any and all coming apocalypses!
Thanks for all you do! Hoping the red wave is going to happen. Wish they would explain the whole "Republicans want to deny women access to birth control" scare tactic. Any links you could provide? Many I've found are definitely biased.
Let's grow! I'll definitely come here for the memes, but not a bad start on the politics either!
